Choosing a 1900 - 2400 Series Cable Reel:
Referring to the Specification Date Sheet (below), the basic four criteria to select a reel from the price tables are:
1. Application (lift, drag, retrieve, stretch). 2. Wire Gauge (in AWG). 3. Number of Cable Conductors. 4. Total Cable Length Needeed (in feet). This is the total footage    of cable on the reel spool.
There can be up to three different reel choices within a given set of criteria. Each one of the choices will technically do the job, however, depending on the applications and circumstance, a reel larger than the minimum size might be advisable. Contact us for details.
It is important to consider all environmental, mechanical and interface needs, electrical needs, and the total cable length needed, before you select a reel. This will insure that the reel will operate properly and will provide the maximum operating life. Please refer to the Specification Data Sheet below.

Ball Stops			Ball Stops, also referred to as “Cable Stops” or “Bumper Stops” are:
			• Generally used for manually operated lift and drag applications to    govern retraction length. Stops are required when cable-end    accessories such as hand lamps and receptacle boxes are installed    on the reels.
			• Suitable for all PowerReel® Cable Reels.
			• Ball stops are included with 1200 Series reels. Also included with    3 & 4 conductor 1400 reels (lift / drag application only).

Cable Grips			Also referred to as “Kellems” grips, these devices are recommended to maximize cable life. They relieve the concentrated strain on individual conductors at the cable termination point. In most installations, the eye of the cable grip is connected to an eye bolt or U-bolt. This allows free movement between the cable and the grip. Allow for generous cable loop to minimize the strain on the cable.

Hand Lamps
Hand Lamps provide extra lighting in applications where proper lighting is required for safety or convenience. Suitable for indoor use on all 3-conductor 16 awg & 14 awg cable reels. Receptacle Boxes		Receptacle Boxes are ideal for:

Receptacle Boxes are ideal used where mobile power supply is needed for safety and convenience. These are standard on some models of 1200 Series reels. These can also be added to other PowerReel styles using up to 12/3 SOOW-A cable.
These boxes are made from a heavy duty, molded yellow thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and have an internal cord grip. The boxes are oil resistant and impervious to most chemicals.
Ratchet and Ball Stop are required and are standard on the reels that most commonly use a receptacle box.

345 Degree Pivot Base
			Pivot Bases allow the cable reel to pivot back and forth for alternating directions of cable payout. See chart below for maximum rotation.
			If cable payout exceeds 150 away from parallel to the spool, a pivot base should be used.
			Note that “Swivel Bases” are available for applications that require a full 360° pivot. Pivot Bases are ordered based on the specific series of reel used:

Spool Locks, Ratchets, and Brakes
Spool Locks			Spool Locks are used to lock the spool in place to prevent rotation of the reel in adverse conditions or during routine maintenance. Can be used on 1900 through 3600 Series Reels.

Ratchets			Ratchets are spring activated mechanisms that temporarily lock the spool in place at selected points in the cable payout. Ratchets are standard on 1200, 1400 and 1500 series reels, but can be added to 1900 through 3600 styles.
